Children and Family Law

Parenting & Children’s Matters

Negotiating what is in the best interests of your children while navigating your own stress is complex. As a parent who has personally navigated Family Law Court proceedings, I understand the emotional weight of these disputes. My goal is to alleviate that stress by providing pragmatic, child-focused solutions that protect your children’s well-being and your parental rights.

The “Best Interests” of the Child

Every family is unique, and there is no “one-size-fits-all” arrangement. When we work together, I focus on the factors the Court deems paramount:

  • Meaningful Relationships: Ensuring children maintain bonds with parents and extended family, including grandparents.
  • Safety First: Protecting children from physical or psychological harm, family violence, or neglect.
  • Practical Daily Life: Considering routines, schooling, special occasions, and the practicalities of travel between homes.

Your Path to Resolution

The best outcome for children is usually an agreement reached outside of the courtroom. I can guide you through several pathways to achieve this:

Parenting Plans: Informal, flexible written agreements. While not legally binding, they are regarded by the Court if future disputes arise.

Consent Orders: A formal agreement filed with the Court that has the same legal force as a Judge’s decision, usually without requiring a court appearance.

Mediation & Dispute Resolution: I can facilitate attendance with Family Dispute Resolution Practitioners (FDRP) to reach a settlement without litigation.

When Court is Necessary

If an agreement cannot be reached, or if your matter is urgent—such as safety concerns or the risk of relocation—I provide robust representation in the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia. From complying with the compulsory “Pre-Action Procedures” to working with Independent Children’s Lawyers (ICL), I ensure your case is handled with senior-level strategy from start to finish.

A personal perspective. A professional advantage.

I bring 17 years of family law experience and personal insight to help you move forward in a way that truly serves your children.
